Launched in 1982 in France, la Fête de la Musique, is a free celebration of music held on June 21st. It is now held on the same day in more than 800 cities in 120 countries. Australia has joined in with its own version called Make Music Australia.

Sydney Symphony Orchestra will be live streaming their performance of Verdi’s Requiem from 18:30 AEST

Busk for a cure is an independent music festival raising funds for cancer research. There will be 12 artists across 3 stages in Parramatta

Hawkesbury City Council
You can listen to musicians in the Deerubbin Centre, Windsor – home to Hawkesbury Regional Gallery and Hawkesbury Central Library.
Singer and guitarist Daryng will play from 11:30 – 1:30 at the Windsor Mall

2 venues with 5 artists and 2 DJs from 6pm
Alliance Française de Perth & The Bird (Northbridge)
The Alliance is celebrating La Fête de la Musique on Sunday 24 June from 3 to 10pm. It features a local and eclectic line-up: Lowdax (hip-hop), The Limbs (rock), Childlike Empress (rock), DJ BabBooBae (DJ set), DJ Pex (DJ set) and Bari (DJ set). Free before 6pm, $5 after.
In addition, Miik Green, an artist who works with plastic will present his exhibit Micro/Cosmos, which will be projected behind the DJs.
Beenleigh Town Square

There will be musicians outside Myer, the Wintergarden and Post Office Square
Queen Street Mall will host a duo formed in France called Sweet Boheme between 12pm and 2:30pm

Sofitel Brisbane Central
The hotel will have a jazz trio tomorrow evening, as well as the launch of our new candle ritual at 5pm.
Riverside Christian College
A celebration of music for the school and the local community. Students will be able to participate in ukulele workshops, karaoke, drum circles as well as be entertained by local artists. Selected students will be performing at the local Markets during lunch. Student compositions are being used as bells for the day.

A night of free music, mulled wine and soupe à l’oignon.
Bundoora Retirement village ukulele group Bundyukes will perform from 11am-12pm
Northcote Town Hall
The Caribbean Steelband known as CaribVic for short, plays on 23 recycled oil drums transformed into chromatically pitched percussion instruments originating from Trinidad and Tobago in the West Indies. Since their beginnings in the 1930s, they have been tightly tied to community, and inclusive of the socially disadvantaged. The CaribVic steelband’s repertoire covers Calypso, Latin-style and Reggae as well as arrangements of more popular Western songs.

Perform and be videotaped playing Waltzing Matilda which will be submitted to the AMEB centenary celebrations for the “Online orchestra”.
