Bastille Festival 2024 is in full swing after opening yesterday. Taking over The Rocks in Sydney, this festival has become a Sydney favourite and the perfect celebration of all things French.
The organisers promise a revolutionary French food, wine and art extravaganza, with everything from food and wine stalls, to cinema, dance classes and live concerts.

Over 100 dishes to choose from
You can eat to your heart’s content with over 100 mouth-watering options from 70 pop up restaurants and terraces. Discover Alpine delights like Raclette and Fondue, savour the flavours of the East with Choucroute and Flammkuchen, and indulge in Normandy or Brittany’s delectable crepes and cheeses, and that’s just to name a few of the delicious choices. There are even some dishes created exclusively for Bastille Festival 2024 including Camembert Arancini, Creamy Mushroom Gnocchi, French Paella, and Churros with French Jams.
14 bars to quench your thirst
With 14 bars across Bastille Festival 2024, you will never go thirsty. Champagne corks will be popping because what is a French festival without champagne?
Bastille Festival 2024 has 8 bars à vin serving French wine allow you to journey through the wines of France from Bordeaux to Bourgogne and from Loire to Provence and beyond. Grab a wine passport and collect stamps as you sample wines from France’s wine regions on the Bastille Wine Walk.
If wine isn’t your thing, then you can drink French Craft Beers in First Fleet Park at The Rocks Village.
And if you’re looking for something warming and a European Winter tradition, there is plenty of mulled wine to be had. Or if hot chocolate is more your thing, there is even a boozy hot chocolate to choose from.
Entertainment at Bastille Festival 2024
Apart from the Mulled Wine cinema, the food, wine and shopping at Bastille Festival 2024, there are three stages offering a variety of acts to entertain you. The Chef Village in First Fleet Park (the one next to the MCA) is the main entertainment stage, but acts will also perform on the Parisian Stage – Customs House and the Garden Stage at the MCA. Take the French experience home with you with a piece of France or something French-inspired, whether it be a print, candle, clothing, jewellery, soaps, and more.
Le Mulled Wine Cinema
Sit on a deck chair with a warm blanket sipping on warming mulled wine as you watch French and French-inspired films. Tonight, Moulin Rouge and Coco before Chanel will be screened . Tomorrow, Saturday there’s something for all ages whether it be Asterix: The Secret of the Magic Potion and Ratatouille for kids and big kids alike, or Eiffel and La vie en Rose. Sunday, on Bastille Day proper, and the last day of the festival, you can watch Amélie and Lost Illusions.
Le Dîner Extraordinaire
A unique foodie experience with a menu designed especially for Bastille Day. Enjoy a 4 course set menu with paired wines and a 2.5 to 3 hour show with a different entertainer each night. Tickets sales for tonight have closed but there’s still time to book for Saturday dinner and Sunday lunch. Choose from a piano show Saturday night or Sax Beats and Lunch on Sunday.
Food Wine Art Masterclasses at Bastille Festival 2024
Choose from 2 food themed masterclasses on Sunday: gluten-free Quiche Lorraine or Chocolate Fondant and Passionfruit Soufflé. Indulge in a Franco-Australian wine & cheese tasting, learn to make your own mulled wine, or enjoy a French wine and cheese feast. All of the art themed masterclasses have already been held or are sold out but places remain for the Zumba class on Saturday night.
