Easy cheesy home cheese making class

29 April & 7 May

Celebrated Udder Delights cheese maker (and one of the state’s newest brewers) Sheree Sullivan leads this fun and informative cheesemaking class.

 

You’ll craft your own feta, while also learning how the same recipe can be used to make camembert and turn whey into ricotta.

 

You’ll also get to eat and drink during this hands on event at Tasting Australia 2022. It’s also an in-depth masterclass featuring five cheeses and fresh-baked ciabatta, plus a glass of Hesketh wine or Grunthal beer. After learning how to make cheese, you can enjoy coffee or tea and a selection of house-made cakes.

 

Each guest will leave with recipes and some small items to help with home cheese-making, plus a $10 voucher to spend in store.

L Plates: fresh cheese making workshop

Learn how to make fresh cheese as Gina Dal Santo, TAFE SA Lecturer, shares tips and tricks on how to make the perfect cheese at home. In this class you will learn how to make cheeses that can be eaten fresh or used in cooking.

 

Enjoy a tasting of cheese that has been prepared earlier and some mouth-watering dishes using the cheeses made to enjoy prepared by TAFE SA chef Tania Tauakume.

 

The hands-on event will run for three hours and will be held in a commercial kitchen with state-of-the-art equipment. All ingredients are supplied – you simply need to turn up and enjoy!

 

L Plates: Knead to know

Chef Paul Beech, TAFE SA Lecturer will share the secrets of sourdough bread-making in this five-hour session. You will have plenty of time to mix, knead and shape a variety of loaves in French and Italian style, including ciabatta, Sicilian Altamura and focaccia. You will also take home your very own mother starter.

 

As with the all of the L Plates sessions, Knead to know will be held in a commercial kitchen with state-of-the-art equipment. All ingredients are supplied – you simply need to turn up and enjoy!

 

L Plates: Sweet success

Dessert Verrines celebrate flavour, colour and texture. In this class led by patisserie chef Jon Mckeigue, TAFE SA lecturer, create your own selection of layered and composed desserts that are as beautiful as they are delicious.

 

Chef Jon will share and guide you through a range of classic and modern patisserie techniques and exquisite creations using local South Australian ingredients, ready for your next dinner party.

 

As with all of the L Plates sessions, Sweet success will run for three hours and will be held in a commercial kitchen with state-of-the-art equipment. All ingredients are supplied – you simply need to turn up and enjoy!
