Experience an Australian school fete with a touch of French sophistication, as La Grande Fête makes its grand return tomorrow Saturday, November 4, 2023. It’s long been known as ‘the foodie’s fete,’ and is set to reach new heights of French deliciousness. This year is even more special, as it marks the 100th anniversary of Telopea Park School and the 40th anniversary of the French-Australian bi-national agreement.
A culinary extravaganza at La Grande Fête
Visitors to La Grande Fête can look forward to a culinary extravaganza. Various stalls will be serving up essential French delights, including raclette, saucisson, galettes, crêpes, cheese, and fresh bread. To complement these delectable treats, you can enjoy a glass or two of French wine or savour a Zierholz brew.
For those with a sweet tooth, there’s an array of tempting options. Indulge in a True Blue BBQ, delight in fairy floss, gelato, sweet pastries, and explore a treasure trove of homemade sweets at the cake stall.
Market Stalls to get a head start on your Christmas shopping
Explore the diverse range of market stalls at La Grande Fête offering a wide selection of goods, including homemade truffles by La Truffière Australia-Périgord, to beautiful jewellery art by Mo Resin. There will also be a second-hand book stall and a variety of plants, and a variety of pottery and ceramics to name but a few.
Plenty to explore
In addition to the market stalls, you can enjoy carnival rides for the thrill-seekers, discover the annual Canberra French Car Clubs display, and be entertained by stilt walkers.
Family-Friendly Fun at La Grande Fête
Families with young children will appreciate the Petit Fun Corner, jointly run by the French-Australian Preschool, Les Petites Etoiles (French Playgroup), and the Telopea Park School Kindergarten, ensuring that the little ones are entertained. Live entertainment is a highlight, with performances by the Primary and Secondary Telopea Park School Bands and Choir. There will also be face-painting and of course the carnival rides.
Exciting prizes to be won
Thanks to generous donations, visitors can participate in a silent auction and purchase tickets for the Raffle Extraordinaire, where a combined total of nearly $7500 worth of prizes is up for grabs.
