The Magician’s Cabaret: The Underground Burlesque Show – 15 July
Set in an authentic Parisian Cabaret venue, featuring satire, song and dance, you shall discover Six Sizzling Burlesque numbers to leave your senses in turmoil.
Created by award winning cabaret producers of The Magicians Cabaret James Karp ( La Belle Rose, La Fortuna, two of Australia’s longest running Parisienne Cabaret shows ), and James Taylor ( The Royal Ballet London, Sydney Dance Company), Underground Burlesque is much more than twisted tassel twirlers…
In a series of six acts the producers explore the art of Burlesque from Vintage to Neo, from its striptease to its stinging satire. The show is packed with glamour, glitter, satire, seriously painted red lips, bathing in martini glass and the Burlesque Showgirl as one would expect form Karp who reintroduced the classic Parisienne Showgirl to Australian audiences in 2008.

The Vanguard: PARIS NOCTURNE: A musical celebration of the women of Paris – 15 July
Nikki Nouveau (read our interview with her here) explores the timeless allure of Paris in her enchanting musical biography. Meet the fascinating ladies of Paris, from Colette to Marie Antoinette, Coco Chanel to Napoleon’s Josephine, who created an unequalled society of feminine charm, beauty, art, sexuality and love.
Be seduced and inspired as Nouveau and her band bring to life the bygone era of French jazz, ‘Nocturne’ night music and intimate cabaret from the 1940s, 50s and 60s. With delicate vocals and classical overtones, Nikki presents an uplifting musical escapade singing a rich repertoire from artists such as Josephine Baker, Dalida, Edith Piaf and Brigitte Bardot, along with her own original compositions and featuring piano, accordion, manouche guitar and double bass by Sydney’s finest musicians.
- General Admission $45.80
