Sparkling wine in all its variations will be celebrated in A Series of Sparkling at the National Wine Centre in Adelaide this October. Over 4 Sundays, across 4 masterclasses you will be guided through blanc de blancs, blanc de noirs, as well as fancy champagne and big house champagne.
Across these 90 minute masterclasses you will taste six different sparkling wines within the relevant theme.
Sunday 9th October – 1.30pm -3.00pm
‘Blanc de blancs’ means ‘white on white’ which means that the sparkling wine only comes from white grape varieties which is commonly Chardonnay. This masterclass is a look at six Blanc de Blancs styles of sparkling wine featuring a comparison of examples from Australia, including Deviation Road Beltana, with three key Champagne examples, including Gosset.

Sunday 16th October – 1.30pm -3.00pm
‘Blanc de noirs’ means ‘white on red’ which means that the sparkling wine only comes from red grape varieties which is commonly Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. This masterclass is a look at six Blanc de Noirs styles of sparkling wine from across the world with three key Champagne examples and three examples from regions outside of Champagne.
Two wines that James Boden, Head Sommelier at National Wine Centre, is excited to show in this masterclass are the Benoit Dehu Cuvee la Rue Des Noyers and Cedric Mousse Les Vignes De Mon Village.

Sunday 23rd October – 1.30pm -3.00pm
Six of the most premium Champagnes that they can get hold of! This is the masterclass to attend if you want to compare top notch Champagnes including the 2011 Tattinger Comtes de Champagne. The masterclass will focus on some key brands as well as the introduction of one or two wines that seldom make it far enough to be shown.

Sunday 30th October – 1.30pm -3.00pm
In this masterclass you will look at six of the most well recognised champagnes including like Louis Roederer, Pol Roger and Moet & Chandon. Then you can decide for yourself as to which is your favourite.
