The Academy Awards 2026 nominations were announced Friday morning Australian time, and among them there are French films, coproductions and producers. Each category, with the exception of Best Picture, has 5 nominees, and in some categories the French dominate. Read on to find out which French films, coproductions and people are nominated at the Academy Awards 2026, and where you can watch them in Australia.

WHEN WILL THE WINNERS BE ANNOUNCED?

The ceremony for the Academy Awards 2026 will take place Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood on Sunday, 15 March 2026 (early in the morning of Monday 16 March 2026 Australian time).

 

CÉSAR: THE FRENCH OSCARS

The French equivalent of the Academy Awards is the César. The César 2026 nominations will be announced on Wednesday 28 January. We will talk to you about them once they have been announced.

 

ALLIANCE FRANÇAISE FRENCH FILM FESTIVAL

The full Alliance Française French Film Festival 2026 program will also be announced on Wednesday 28 January. We will of course tell you all about it but in the meantime we tell you about the films we’ve decrypted from the trailer most of which have not yet been announced.
