Bon Fromage returns to Sydney this weekend with a celebration of cheese and best of all it’s free! Whether it be a creamy brie or a stinky blue that you prefer, this cheese festival will have something for you.
Bon Fromage will showcase the variety and the distinctiveness of French cheeses in Australia. The festival is an initiative of CNIEL(Centre National Interprofessionnel de l’Economie Laitière) (National Dairy Interbranch Organization), with aid from the European Union. The first Bon Fromage was held in 2016.
At Bon Fromage, you’ll have the opportunity to taste, discover and learn about French cheeses, but also, to attend free in-person Masterclasses hosted by famous cheesemongers, chefs and specialists of the industry.
Masterclasses will teach you how to pair cheese and wine, or how to integrate it to your daily cooking. All of the masterclasses have booked out with the exception of one at 2pm on Saturday: Tea & Cheese – Aurore Ghigo from Cheese on Wheels leads a masterclass discovery of their combination of tea blends and French cheeses.
CHEESY MEALS AT BON FROMAGE
In addition to the free tastings, you will also be able to purchase cheesy meals at Bon Fromage. Cheesy delights from some of the exhibitors include:
- Hot Dog Savoyard – gourmet cheesy hot dogs
- That Arancini Guy – arancini balls and cheese wheel gnocchi
- French Kiss creperie – galette with raclette cheese and La Complete crepe with Emmental/gruyere, ham and egg
- The French Cob loaf
- Saucissons Australia – curated cheeses, pate, homemade dried sausages
- Frencheese – raclette on sautéed potatoes, cured meat, salad, cornichons
There will also be live entertainment all through the weekend.
