Bonjour Barossa 2019 returns to the Barossa in July

Reading Time: 4 minutes

Bonjour Barossa 2019 will return to the grounds of Seppeltsfield winery in the Barossa Valley on Sunday 7 July. Bonjour Barossa will see Seppeltsfield transformed into a Parisian style market

It’s just one of 4 French festivals which will be taking place around Australia in July.

Expect to savour fromage, baguettes, charcuterie, fresh oysters, crepes, pastries and chocolate, with Barossan wine by Seppeltsfield and champagne by Billecart. Food will be provided by local SA artisans including Dough, Coffee + Crepe, Chocolique, Barossa Valley Cheese Company, The Oyster Bar, Barossa Coffee Roasters, Barossa Valley Ice-cream and Owen Andrews.

There will also be entertainment for your ears. Adelaide Fringe regular, Louise Blackwell & The French Set will perform French jazz.

MASTERCLASSES

You will also have the opportunity to learn about all sorts of French things with masterclasses and meetings with artisans across the areas of cheese, perfume, bread, and champagne. You can also try your hand at some art.

Cheese

You can explore the world of cheese through the eyes of Valerie Henbest of the Smelly Cheese Shop at the Adelaide Central Markets and Victoria McClurg a former winemaker turned cheese architect. The two will share their passion and knowledge of all things cheese! Tickets cost $15 (in addition to Bonjour Barossa 2019 entry ticket).

Perfume
At 11:30, there will be a natural perfumery micro-workshop on eau de cologne as an introduction to those new to the world of perfume. The class will be led by Vasse Virgin. You can create your own signature perfume from pure essential oils. Tickets cost $20 (in addition to Bonjour Barossa 2019 entry ticket).

At 2pm, you can engage in a more intensive workshop entitled The full experience. In 90 minutes, you will learn about base, middle and top notes and you will mix your own signature scent. Tickets cost $75 (again, in addition to Bonjour Barossa 2019 entry ticket).

Billecart-Salmon Champagne
French Champagne experts will take you on a fascinating voyage of discovery with one of the leading Champagne producers. You will learn (and taste) the differences between vintage and non-vintage champagne, learn some wine tasting terminology to be able to describe the appearance, aroma and flavour like an expert. Tickets cost $50 (in addition to Bonjour Barossa 2019 entry ticket).

Walking tour
You can also do a walking tour of the food venues that were important to the Seppelt family in the 19th and 20th centuries. You will be inspired by the history of food, the Seppelt Bacon Haus, the 1890 dining hall and the Seppeltsfield cooperage. This visit will be guided by Events Executive Chef, Owen Andrews. The ticket includes tastings. NOTE this tour has sold out in previous years so if you are interested, I recommend that you buy your tickets now. Tickets cost $50 (in addition to the Bonjour Barossa 2019 entry ticket).

It’s not all just about food and drink experiences at Bonjour Barossa 2019 although this wine class encourages you to take a glass of wine to get your creative juices flowing.  Studio Vino will hold three painting sessions in which you will get to create your own works based on some of the masterpieces. In the 10:30 am session you’ll be inspired by Van Gogh’s Sunflowers, at 1pm Three Red Hens and at 3pm Paris by Night. Tickets to each session cost $60 (in addition to Bonjour Barossa 2019 entry ticket).
