What is Yé-Yé?

Yé-Yé was not just a genre but a subculture in its own right which was extremely popular in the swinging 60s. It was famous for the sultry, nonchalant French twist it put on the rock ‘n’ roll sounds emerging from the UK and USA.

In a never-before-heard French-Australian collaboration, some of Australia’s finest artists including Montaigne, Ali Barter, Ainslie Wills, Tina Arena, Odette, Gretta Ray, Woode and Ngaiire have put their own spin on the Yé-Yé sound in a series of EPs produced by multi-ARIA nominated producer Alice Ivy and mixed by legendary sound engineer John Castle.
