SWISS NATIONAL DAY 2023 IN BRISBANE
BRISBANE – SWISS SOCIETY OF QUEENSLAND – 29 July 2023
The Swiss Society of Queensland Committee cordially invites you to its National Day celebration on Saturday 29 July at the Samford Showgrounds, located at 34 Woodanga Drive, Highvale QLD.
The venue is ideal for the day’s activities and even overnight stay. There are plenty of grassy areas to play ball games or kick a footy.
Program: (subject to slight variations)
- 10am: Set up tents for overnight visitors
- 11am: START of the event, bar, sweets and music
- Midday: Lunch served by SSQ
- 1pm: Welcome by SSQ President
- 1.30pm: onwards: Children fun activities including games
- 1.30pm: Jodel by Priska and Jakob
- 2pm: Baerg-Roeseli Yodel Choir
- 2.30pm: Official address Swiss President and National Anthem
- 4pm: Raffle draw of many prices
- 4.10pm: Children’s disco
- 5pm: Dinner
- 5.30pm: Lampion procession followed by bonfire and evening activities

Annual Swiss National Day celebrations happening at Murrumbateman, NSW.
The Swiss sausages have been ordered so come along & join members to celebrate the National Day with swiss food and traditions.
Entry is free for current Canberra Swiss Club members. Entry for non-members is at a cost and by member invitation only.

Maker & Monger – Fondue Night – Swiss National Day celebration – Tuesday 1 August
Join Maker & Monger for another delightful MARKET AFTER DARK evening of cheesy goodness and celebration as they commemorate Swiss National Day! Indulge in the epic Swiss Alpine delicacy of fondue, where molten cheese is paired with all the traditional accompaniments.
Start the night off with a complimentary glass Glühwein as you tuck into a charcuterie board featuring meats from their friends at Gary’s Meats and a whole wheel of Rodolphe Le Meunier’s world’s best Normandy beurre de baratte with fresh radishes (yes, each table will have an opportunity to devour this life changing butter!)
The main course will be a hands-on affair as they guide you through making an Alpine fondue with all the classic accompaniments such as bread, steamed vegetables and roasted potatoes. So, make sure you don’t do arms or shoulders that day at the gym as there will be a lot of stirring to get that perfect molten & drool worthy smooth stretch of the cheese in your fondue pot.
To finish, do as they do in the medieval town of Gruyere and serve you fresh meringue with crème épaisse to see you on your way to bed as your cheese dreams await you once your head graces your pillow.
There will be an incredible array of Alpine wines from the Jura & Savoie regions of France to purchase by the glass or bottle on the night and a stunning Swiss cider for those who want to keep it 100% Swiss.
Swiss Yodel Choir Matterhorn – 6 August 2023
The annual Swiss National Day Picnic hosted by the Swiss Yodel Choir Matterhorn will this year take place at the foothills of the Dandenong Ranges at the beautiful Kings Park Upper Ferntree Gully. This free community event celebrates Swiss National Day with Swiss food and entertainment for young and old with both indoor and outdoor spaces hosting Swiss food and entertainment.

SWISS NATIONAL DAY 2023 IN PERTH
PERTH – Swiss Club of WA – 5 August
On the 5th of August, the Swiss Club of WA celebrate Swiss National Day on its beautiful property in Gidgegannup, one hour out of Perth.
The shed is enclosed and they will have an industrial heater to keep us warm and their fabulous Swiss Alphorn players will provide entertainment.
The menu for the night is as follows:
- Fleischkaese (Swiss Meat Loaf) / Beinschinken (Ham)
- Potato Salad, Carrot Salad, Beetroot Salad, Green Salad and Corn Salad
- Crusty Bread
- the famous dessert buffet with shared byo treats is available for everyone.
The event is capped at 100 people, so it is recommended to book as soon as possible to avoid missing out.
Arrival is from 3.30pm and dinner is served at 4.45pm – the bonfire is lit at 6pm and the dessert buffet will open after that. Detailed information will be provided after bookings and payments are received.
