The WOMADelaide 2024 second announcement of artists was made this morning. Among today’s 38 artists added to the program are 11 from France and the Francophonie. This is in addition to the 7 we told you about from the first announcement, which you can read here. Charlotte Adigéry & Bolis Pupul (BELGIUM):

Ghent-based duo challenges dancefloor norms, infusing societal commentary into playful synth concoctions with a knowing wink.

CORPUS – Divine Intervention & Les moutons (CANADA):

CORPUS combines movement and surreal imagery in “Les Moutons” and offers a sense of magic and beauty in “Divine Interventions.”

Unleashing an “Arabian Fuzz” storm, Al-Qasar’s psychedelic rock invites a dancefloor celebration intertwined with North African trance.

Cie L’immédiat mesmerizes with “La lévitation réelle,” a surreal blend of physical theatre, acrobatics, and pantomime.

Compagnie On Off – Le Chant de L’eau (FRANCE):

Cie On Off’s Lucie Martin explores vibratory medicine in “Le Chant de L’eau,” inviting the audience into a whimsical therapeutic treatment.

 

Gratte Ciel RoZeoGratte Ciel – RoZeO (FRANCE):

Acclaimed aerial choreographers Gratte Ciel (who brought the show with the angels and their feathers) return with a mesmerizing performance RoZeO, swirling amidst the treetops on 10 metre poles to create an illusion of flight.

ETHIOPIA

Black Jesus Experience (ETHIOPIA / AUSTRALIA): Melbourne-based Black Jesus Experience blends Ethio-jazz, hip-hop, and funk, offering an explosive journey of Ethiopian tradition on future grooves.

AURUS (RÉUNION):

 

AURUS, a true musical and visual UFO, weaves orchestral pop with the roots of Réunion Island, delivering a modern mirage through tenor vocals.

The Good Ones (RWANDA):

 

The Good Ones, survivors of the Rwandan genocide, create music as a healing force, rooted in local traditions and untouched by Western influences.

TUNISIA

Emel Mathlouthi (TUNISIA):

 

Tunisian singer Emel Mathlouthi embarks on a sonic exploration, grounding her honeyed vocals with heavy electronics in her latest album, “MRA.”

UGANDA

MC Yallah & Debmaster (UGANDA / FRANCE):

 

Veteran rapper MC Yallah, with linguistic dexterity, collaborates with French producer Debmaster, traversing trap, dancehall, and industrial styles.

 

 

This WOMADelaide 2024 second announcement rounds out the program with diversity in artists and adding plenty of French and Canadian circus and dance. Playing days will be announced in December.
