La Chandeleur 2020: where to get your crêpes

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Sunday 2 February is La Chandeleur 2020, which is the day on which the French eat crêpes. Find out where you can eat crêpes around Australia below!

BUT WHAT IS LA CHANDELEUR?

La Chandeleur is always celebrated on 2 February, 40 days after Christmas. The name comes from the latin “festa candelarum”, which means “fête des chandelles”. For Christians and Catholics, it represents the day on which Baby Jesus was presented at the temple.

But today, even if the majority of French people are non-religious, they still eat crêpes for La Chandeleur.

WHERE TO GET CREPES IN AUSTRALIA?
