The National Wine Centre in Adelaide is not letting 2020 dull its ‘sparkle’ and has announced its 5 event program for Sparkling Fest (formerly Champagne Fest)!
This marks a change from the usual one day event but means you get to celebrate champagne and sparkling wine across 4 weeks!
There are 4 SPARKLING FEST masterclasses to take part in, which will see you tasting 6 champagnes and sparkling wines. Prices vary from $75 to $95.
LOCAL GEMS MASTERCLASS | SUNDAY 11 OCTOBER, 1:30pm – 3pm | $75PP
The National Wine Centre’s Head Sommelier will lead you through some of Australia’s best sparkling wines. You will be looking at examples from across Australia looking at producers including Deviation Road (Adelaide Hills, S.A), Stefano Lubiana (Tasmania) and Sittella (Pemberton, W.A). Masterclass includes 6 tastings
SPARKLING ACROSS THE WORLD MASTERCLASS | SUNDAY 18 OCTOBER, 1:30pm – 3pm | $75PP
The National Wine Centre’s Head Sommelier will show you sparkling wines from across the world. They will be showcasing sparkling wines from Europe as we look at different styles from France, Spain and Italy. Masterclass includes 6 tastings.
BIG HOUSE CHAMPAGNE MASTERCLASS | SUNDAY 25 OCTOBER, 1:30pm – 3pm | $95PP
The National Wine Centre’s Head Sommelier will take you to the region of Champagne, France and some of the most well-known Champagne labels. This masterclass will look at the different ‘house’ styles and a look at some amazing Champagne from houses like Bollinger, Pol Roger and Louis Roederer. Masterclass includes 6 tastings.
GROWER CHAMPAGNE MASTERCLASS | SUNDAY 1 NOVEMBER | 1:30pm – 3pm | $95PP
The National Wine Centre’s Head Sommelier will help you discover some of the smaller Champagne producers with the Grower Masterclass. You will taste different styles of Champagne from across the region: this is one not to miss for all those who love a new discovery. Masterclass includes 6 tastings.

DEVIATION ROAD SEAFOOD AND SPARKLING DINNER | 4 COURSES | THURSDAY 15 OCTOBER | 6:30pm – 10:30pm | $180PP
Deviation Road produces exciting cool climate wines from mature vineyard resources in the Adelaide Hills, where owners Hamish and Kate Laurie (herself trained in champagne making in Champagne, France) continue a five-generation family winemaking tradition. Their range of sparkling wines have received many accolades, confirming Deviation Road as one of Australia’s premium sparkling wine producers.
Indulge in a stunning 4 course seafood dinner designed by the National Wine Centre’s Executive Chef Steven Clark to work in harmony with the paired Deviation Road méthode traditionnelle sparkling wines.
You will be guided through the evening by hosts Hamish and Kate Laurie, along with Head Sommelier James Boden as they share their extensive knowledge and insights into the wonderful world of local sparkling.
An evening not to be missed by lovers of bubbles and seafood alike – tickets are limited.
