Opening on 4 November, Sofitel Adelaide is the city’s newest and very much anticipated 5 star hotel. Find out about the hotel, peruse some artist impressions (actual images to follow closer to opening) of Sofitel Adelaide and discover a special opening offer in this article.
ABOUT SOFITEL
Sofitel was the first international luxury hotel brand to come from France when it was established in 1964. It now has more than 120 chic and remarkable hotels across the world. The Sofitel hotels are about modern luxury and a mélange of French decadence with the best of the local surroundings.
Sofitel is part of the Accor group which has more than 5,000 properties and 10,000 food and beverage venues throughout 110 countries.
THE BUILDING
Sofitel Adelaide will take up the first 24 levels of the 32-level tower which also houses the Luminesque apartments. Part of a $150 million project from South Australian family-owned building group Palumbo, the glass walled building will add a touch of glitter to Adelaide’s skyline.
THE HOTEL
Design of Sofitel Adelaide was led by Carl Almeida from P49 DESIGN who have won awards for their interior design and have been responsible for the interior design of Accor’s iconic SO/ Melbourne, Fairmont Mumbai (India), Raffles Udaipur (India), and Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi (Vietnam).
P49 DEESIGN Partner, Carl Almeida, said: “Our vision for Sofitel Adelaide was to bring to life three quintessential Adelaide themes – city of churches, arts and culture, and wine – and to weave these narratives into the hotel’s contemporary interiors, all of which are also a nod to the hotel’s cultural link to the city of Bordeaux in France.”
Upon entering Sofitel Adelaide, you will feel a sense of light and flow, of old and new and of secular and sacred. Inspiration is taken from cathedrals in Adelaide and France and their influence can be seen throughout the hotel including the signature floor design of Sofitel Adelaide.
Australian fine-art photographer, Alexia Sinclair, has created the lobby’s centrepiece artwork, entitled Field of Dreams. Elements of this French-inspired artwork also appear throughout the hotel such as lightboxes which illuminate the porte cochere ceiling. A nod to both French and South Australian wine regions is found in the red-wine inspired chandelier which flows from the lobby to the lounge bar.
THE ROOMS
Sofitel Adelaide’s rooms are decorated with sumptuous residential-style interiors in a blend of French colonial and modern contemporary styles. The rooms are a play of old-world details and new world styling.
The bathrooms complete with luxurious vanities and free-standing bathtubs give a sense of space. Mosaic design found in the walk-in rain showers throughout all of the Sofitel Adelaide’s rooms take inspiration from the stained windows of Adelaide’s cathedrals. Bathroom toiletries are courtesy of Balmain Paris. Each room also comes with a Dyson hairdryer for the most luxurious hair-drying available.
Sofitel Adelaide has 7 room types: the superior room, deluxe room, luxury room and luxury club room through to the suites: Prestige Suite, Opera Suite, and Presidential Suite.
