LIGHTS FROM FRANCE & THE FRANCOPHONIE AT VIVID SYDNEY 2025
FROM BELGIUM
Dirty Monitor, Charleroi, Belgium
Fantasmagoria is a stunning projection that brings a fantastical story to life, celebrating the magic of reading, dreams, and imagination. In a world dominated by screens, it’s a tribute to the power of words to transport us. Follow a young girl as she’s swept into a book’s vortex, journeying through surreal landscapes and meeting wondrous creatures. A visually rich homage to storytelling and the endless worlds it opens.
FROM CANADA
Moment Factory, Canada
The Lucid Dream Collective by Moment Factory (read our interview with them about their previous Adelaide installations here and here) transforms Martin Place into a dreamlike realm where personal visions merge into a shared, glowing tapestry. In this interactive Vivid Sydney debut, step into an AI photobooth, apply a surreal “dream treatment” to your portrait, and contribute it to the evolving projection. Blurring the line between individual imagination and shared vision, the installation becomes a shimmering mosaic of collective dreams—a celebration of creativity, connection, and the mysterious magic of dreaming.
FROM FRANCE
Spectactulaires – Les Allumeurs d’Images, Brittany, France
Flowers Power transforms Martin Place into a surreal garden where nine giant, mirrored cartoon-like flowers bloom high above the street. This playful installation celebrates the beauty and diversity of flowers, scattering vibrant reflections and shadows across the urban landscape. Illuminated by shifting beams and set to soft music, it blurs reality and fantasy—inviting you into a shimmering, ever-changing field of light and wonder.
Le Pilote Productions (Sébastian Lefèvre, lighting designer)
Soleil Nuit is a mesmerising installation that captures the brilliance of sun (soleil) and the mystery of night (nuit). Two mirror-encrusted discs—one symbolising the Sun, the other Night—shimmer with over 5,000 coloured mirrors that ripple in the wind. By day, they glisten like sunlight through clouds; by night, they become a radiant galaxy lit by bursts of LED light. Like an impressionist painting in motion, Soleil Nuit invites you to reflect on the ever-changing sky and the duality of human experience.

Opening the night, Immy Owusu brings his unique “Afrodelik” sound—a mix of surf rock, West African rhythms, psychedelia, Zamrock, and highlife. With deep Ghanaian roots and a dynamic live presence, he’s not to be missed.
