Yesterday we told you about the French Festival, C’est la Vie 2020 which is coming to Brisbane this October and November: now find out about the C’est la Vie masterclasses.

The first weekend of C’est la vie 2020 is comprised of a weekend of C’est la vie masterclasses. The C’est la vie masterclasses cover a broad range of topics from cooking demonstrations and tips, wine and champagne tastings, guided cheese tastings and you can even try your arty side with some charcoal drawing to the Burlesque au Moulin Rouge theme or watercolour fashion inspired painting. Ticket prices range from $49 to $109 depending on the masterclass you choose

FOR THE FOODIE

 

COOKING – THE SECRET OF FRENCH SAUCES WITH THE CHEF AND THE COOK

Join chef Alex Goyard and his team for a saucy journey! Learn about six different savoury sauces commonly used in French cuisine, and what makes each one stand out.

You may have already heard of some or all of these – but here you will learn the techniques for how to make them, and which dishes to best pair them with.

Chef Alex will also take on a short history lesson of French sauces, while discussing how you can quickly fix up a ‘saucy’ mistake; because even a chef will slip up occasionally.

FRENCH PROVENCAL COOKING – VOYAGE GASTRONOMIQUE EN PROVENCE

Come along on a culinary journey through Provence with chef Alex Goyard and his team, as they take you through a dish that everybody can afford but that requires a certain knowledge and technique: “Zucchini flowers & Ricotta and Herbs farce, 16 weeks Noix de Jambon, Heirloom tomato & Anchovy concassé, baby rocket”.

You will be able to sample the dish with an accompanying glass of wine, along with other additions, and a sweet surprise at the end, to almost make a full course meal. “Bon appetit”!

Let Lucie, from Bottli, take you on a wine-tasting experience full of surprises as she guides you through a comparison between Australia and France. When it comes to wine, it is not always easy to pick up the differences, but it is always fun to try!

Tickle and test your taste buds! Delve into your wine knowledge to guess which is Australian red and which is Pinot Noir, or if you can identify which country the crisp white comes from.

After sampling three grape varieties, one each from France and Australia, you will be able to take notes, rate the wines, and place a bet on which country you think it comes from – don’t worry, all will be revealed before you go! If you appreciate wine, this masterclass is for you!

Come on a tongue-tickling Rosé tasting experience! French wine specialist Sebastien Laboucarie and wine connoisseur Julien Craeye will open a series of lovely French Rosé wines from the South of France for you to sample. These come from Provence, Bordeaux, and the Côtes du Rhône regions. You will also learn a little about each of these wines as you discover their unique qualities – you may potentially also uncover a love for Rosé!

CHARCOAL DRAWING WITH BURLESQUE LIVE MODEL
