Fondue Chalet follows in the delicious footsteps of the Raclette Igloo in Melbourne

Fondue Chalet EN
Reading Time: 3 minutes

For 6 weeks only, Melbourne’s Federation Square will be transformed into a French alpine village for the Fondue Chalet. From the same people who brought the Raclette Igloo to Melbourne and other Australian cities in previous years, this time you can escape to the French Alps for an après ski experience without leaving central Melbourne.

THE FONDUE

Be welcomed with warming mulled wine as your French guide shows you to your private Fondue Chalet. You’ll be served a bubbling pot of traditional Savoyard cheese fondue, a rich blend of Comté, Beaufort, Emmental, and Vacherin (all imported from France), melted to perfection with a splash of white wine, a hint of kirsch, and a dash of spices. Served alongside generous charcuterie boards and crunchy bread, it’s designed to be shared and savoured.

WINES & FIRE

Add to your cheesy indulgence with a selection of à la carte French wines curated to complete your foodie adventure. Each private chalet has its own fire pit so you can gather around the fire and roast marshmallows and add to the experience.

(OPTIONAL) FINISH ON A SWEET NOTE

If you’ve got a sweet tooth, book the ultimate French cheese and chocolate fondue combo in the 12:30pm and 9pm sessions. Have the usual cheese fondue followed by the thick, silky Belgian chocolate fondue, which is perfect for dipping seasonal fruits and sweet treats into.

STAY ON AT THE APRÈS-SKI BAR

Don’t want your Fondue Chalet experience to end? Head over to the Ski Bar, (open exclusively to fondue ticket holders) where a curated selection of French winter cocktails, fine French wines, and hot drinks are on the menu. For the full French experience, order a “digestif”, a traditional after-dinner liquor shot designed to help you feel lighter after a hearty meal.

Grab a cosy table or a fire pit, sip, and savour the moment with cocktails, and good vibes.

AUTHENTICALLY FRENCH

Just as with the Raclette Igloo, the Fondue Chalet experience is authentically French from the cheeses, wines and chalets to the staff.

Vincent Hernandez, Founder & Managing Director of BBR Group Australia, who we have to thank for the experience says:

“Fondue Chalet is all about bringing people together, it’s an authentic French winter tradition to share a fondue with your loved ones after a day in the mountains…After seeing how much Melbourne fell in love with our Raclette Igloo Experience, we decided to take it a step further by importing chalets and alpine cheeses from France to recreate this unique melted cheese experience from the Alps, right here in Fed Square.”
